A meditation to make a difference - 31-5-06

Dear friend,

'We can do no great things; only small things with great love.' - Mother Theresa

When faced with disasters like the earthquake in Java, it can be difficult to know what to do. As well as sending much needed money to the aid agencies, we can add our thoughts, prayers and compassion to those affected by such natural disasters, as well as to the rescue teams working round the clock to find any remaining survivors.

Sometimes it feels like a small gesture, a drop in the ocean, but as Mother Theresa reminds us – the ocean would not be the same if it were not for many little drops.

In such situations, we have found that meditation is a calm and positive method for sending thoughts of healing. We wanted to share this meditation for healing conflict with you.

The World Peace Flame Meditation - Stage 2

  1. Relax for a few minutes and focus on your breathing, watching the natural rhythm of each inhalation and exhalation.
  2. Place an image of the situation that needs healing in front of you at heart level, as if it were on a video screen.
  3. As you breathe in, draw some of the stress or disharmony from the situation into your heart and immediately send it upward and out of your crown as you breathe out.
  4. Feel this stress or disharmony entering a beautiful golden cloud just above you.
  5. Visualise all of it turning into light within the cloud.
  6. On an in-breath, draw this light down into your heart and breathe it out into the scene in front of you, bringing peace, ease and healing to everyone there.
  7. Repeat steps 2-5 until you feel calm, free and re-energised with joy.

Your dedication makes a difference!

Take care and have a great week,
